Surging Heavyweight standouts, Stipe Miocic and Gabriel Gonzaga, will look get closer to the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heap than the other at United Center in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 25, 2014.
The world's leading mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion tonight announced the meaningful UFC on FOX 10 clash online via Twitter.com.
Miocic is looking to build of the biggest victory of his relatively-new professional MMA career, a unanimous decision over Roy Nelson at UFC 161 back in June 2013. Prior to the big win, the Croatian-American was upended by Stefan Struve via technical knockout at UFC on Fuel TV 5 in Sept. 2012.
The Strong Style Fight Team-trained fighter was among the promotion's brightest prospects prior to the "Sky Scraper" setback.
Gonzaga, meanwhile, has re-inserted himself back into the top contender conversation thanks to back-to-back wins over Dave Herman at UFC 162 and Shawn Jordan at UFC 166. In fact, he might be further along if it wasn't for several questionable Travis Browne elbows that snapped a three-fight win streak (full appeal details here).
"Napao," 34, competed for the world title at UFC 74 way back in Aug. 2007, losing to then-champion Randy Couture via third-round technical knockout.
UFC on FOX 10 will be headlined by former UFC Lightweight champion, Ben Henderson, looking to derail the surging former Strikeforce 155-pound kingpin, Josh Thomson. For more on UFC on FOX 10: "Henderson vs. Thomson" be sure to hit up or complete event archive right here.
