Looks like "Showtime" will get some company on the injured reserves.

Well, this sucks.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is once again on the hunt for some new talent to help re-populate its upcoming UFC on FOX 9 fight card, which is scheduled to pop off on December 14, 2013 at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California.

Earlier this week, event headliner Anthony Pettis bowed out becuase of a faulty knee (details).

Now, just two days later, the injury bug strikes again, this time biting lightweight veteran Jamie Varner, as well as undefeated welterweight up-and-comer Kelvin Gastelum. "C-4" suffered a torn rotator cuff while The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 winner shredded his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL).

Both mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters announced their respective injuries on Twitter.

Varner was booked to throw hands opposite Pat Healy, while Gastelum was set to tangle with fellow TUF guy Court McGee. No replacement fighters have been identified at this time; however, with the event just over a month away, expect those names to come sooner rather than later.

UFC on FOX 9 will be headlined by a 125-pound title fight pitting reigning UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson against division number one contender Joseph Benavidez.

That's not all.

The co-main event will feature former WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber in his quest to get back into the 135-pound title hunt at the expense of fellow bantamweight stalwart Michael McDonald. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, Matt Brown will try to prove he's immortal against welterweight warrior Carlos Condit.
