Rousimar Palhares, the talented but troubled Brazilian tree stump submission specialist, made his welterweight debut on the main card of tonight's (Wed., Oct. 9, 2013) UFC Fight Night 29: "Maia vs. Shields" event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, against hard-hitting wrestler Mike Pierce.
It was a short one.
That's because Palhares went back to the well that has treated him so, uh, well, and viciously attacked Pierce's leg, aggressively looking for his trademark kneebar submission.
The first attempt failed but the second was successful, forcing a tap that came quickly and with a grimace of torture. It looked ugly, but it was beautiful in its execution.
Watch out, welterweight division, your limbs aren't safe anymore.
