The official weigh in event for UFC Fight Night 29: "Maia vs. Shields" is set to take place today (Tue., Oct. 8, 2013) from the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
All fighters made weight save for Thiago Silva, who came in three pounds over the 205-pound limit for his bout against Matt Hamill. He'll have a couple hours to drop the extra weight or risk a fine.
UFC Fight Night 29: "Maia vs. Shields" will feature a welterweight main event pitting Demian Maia vs. Jake Shields in a high-stakes battle of jiu-jitsu, with the winner inching themselves closer to a 170-pound title shot.
That's not all.
UFC Fight Night 29 is also expected to feature a co-main event with hometown hero Erick Silva, as he faces off against division stalwart Dong Hyun Kim in a battle of top contenders. Jeremy Stephens vs. Rony Jason will also collide in an intriguing featherweight match up.
