Bellator returned to Spike TV last night (Oct. 4, 2013) with Bellator 102 live from the Visalia Convention Center in Vasilia, California. The card was headlined by Cheick Kongo successfully making his Bellator debut against Mark Godbeer in the heavyweight semi-finals.
The card also featured Lavar Johnson losing in his promotional debut against Vinicius Spartan by knockout in the first round of the bout. The Johnson/Spartan fight was the other half of the heavyweight tournament, with the winners squaring off later this year.
The rest of the night featured some epic knockouts and submissions and was all in all one of the better showings from the promotion since joining Spike TV. Though it lacked the star power, the fights were entertaining and had some really great finishes.
Bellator's biggest hurdle will be finding fighters who draw interest from the casual MMA fans now that they've loaded up the pay-per-view (PPV) debut.
