"Hands of Stone" is perhaps the most accurate nickname one could give John Lineker.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Flyweight standout faced Phil Harris to open the UFC Fight Night 30: "Machida vs. Munoz" card live from the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England. It took him just a few minutes to double over Harris with a hard shot to the spleen.
Lineker is one of the hottest prospects in UFC and one of the few fighters in the 125-pound division who can end a fight with a single punch. Unfortunately, he continues to have trouble making the division limit, missing weight for a third time this weekend when he hit the scales on Friday (Oct. 25, 2013).
There is little doubt that Lineker possesses the skills to be a top contender in the flyweight division, but there's just no way that UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby gives him a shot at Demetrious Johnson after continually failing to make weight.
And while this knockout is surely deserving of "Knockout of the Night" honors, it's likely that he won't be considered for the bonus check because he came in overweight. In fact, he could be getting the "move back up to Bantamweight" speech.
