Dana White has tried very hard to like the 'delusional' Roy Nelson

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Spor

UFC President Dana White wants you to know that he's tried to like Roy Nelson, it's just that he's tired of always hearing about the stupid sh-t Nelson says.

Roy Nelson made his way to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) by winning the tenth season of the Ultimate Fighter (TUF). He immediately became a fan favorite, in part because of his "everyman" look, but mostly because fans love knockouts and Nelson delivers them all the time.

However, as popular as Nelson is with mixed martial arts (MMA) fans, he continues to have issues with UFC President Dana White. Following last night's (Oct. 19, 2013) UFC 161 post-fight press conference, White spoke with attending media about Nelson, who had lost earlier in the evening again Daniel Cormier.

Contrary to popular belief, I try so hard to like Roy Nelson. It's like I saw him backstage before I came out to talk to you guys. I was like, 'What's up Roy? You looked good. You lost weight,' and this and that. Then I come out and hear the stupid s--t he said to you guys right before I walk out there.

I don't know what Nelson said last night, but I do know through past experiences, Nelson doesn't exactly hold back when talking with media. He takes losses very hard and doesn't always credit his opponent for being the better fighter.

This has created a rough relationship with White.

Part of the issue with Nelson is that he's always angling for a title shot. While on the surface that's understandable, it's his constant comments how the UFC won't ever give him a shot. Numerous times he's found himself fighting for a title shot and he loses every single time.

He says we've never given him a title shot when we should have given him a title shot. Every time you get that close to a title shot, you get beat by the best in the world. That's why you've never had a title shot.]

White isn't wrong either. Nelson is now 6-5 in his UFC career with the loss to Cormier. His other losses have come at the hands of Frank Mir, Junior Dos Santos, Stipe Miocic, and Fabricio Werdum. His wins aren't nearly as impressive.

Hopefully he rebounds and finds success now that he's slimmer. But he's gotta stop talking about title shots until he actually beats someone in the top 10.
