Junior dos Santos knocked out Cain Velasquez in the first meeting. Velasquez dominated Dos Santos for five full rounds in the second meeting. Tonight (Sat., Oct. 19, 2013) in the main event of UFC 166: "Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3" at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas, they met for a third and final time to settle the score in an awesome heavyweight trilogy over the division title.
Before the round began, the doctor had to check on Dos Santos' eye, as his left appeared to be swollen shut. He was cleared, somehow, and Velasquez proceeded to take him down in short order.
A lame triangle attempt came up, uh, lame, and "Cigano" used the cage to get back to his feet. The clinch came next, of course, with Velasquez once again jumping in and out with effective offense. By the end, Dos Santos couldn't even throw his punches proper.
Fatigue combined with a severe beating led to his dropping to his knees on a failed choke attempt and just covering his head against multiple blows. Finally, the referee stepped in to stop it.
Velasquez wins by TKO.
