The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) has granted the opportunity for young fighters to train with and learn from some of the top coaches in mixed martial arts (MMA). While the show is based on a rivalry between the two coaches, often times these coaches will bring in experts for a day or so to drill techniques.
For the eighteenth season of the show, Miesha Tate brought in Muay Thai legend Melchor Menor to work with her team. Menor cut his teeth fighting overseas during his illustrious Muay Thai career and was known for his vicious chopping leg kicks.
He demonstrated the proper leg kicking technique by having two of Team Tate's male fighters hold a baseball bat upright while he connected with a low kick that split it in two. This demonstration is one of Menor's "calling cards" as he's showcased this nearly everywhere he's coached.
The noise his shin makes when he's warming up against the bat is disgusting. I'm gonna need to ice my shins because it hurts by proxy.
The Ultimate Fighter: 'Team Rousey vs. Team Tate' airs Wednesday on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
