UFC on FX 7 draws record 1.9 million viewers for televised main card

The big wigs at FX and in the UFC are likely very pleased with this past weekend's UFC on FX 7 numbers, setting records in viewership for both UFC programming on the FX network and on Fuel TV with the preliminary fights. Get all the details below

It turns out Michael Bisping's face wasn't the only thing that was breaking this past Saturday night (Jan. 19, 2013) at the UFC on FX 7 event in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

So were records.

According to MMA Weekly, a lofty 1.9 million viewers tuned in to watch Vitor Belfort TKO "The Count" in the main event on FX this weekend and that's not all. The six preliminary fights on Fuel TV also drew a solid 255,000 viewers on the significantly smaller network.

In comparison to prior numbers, that would mean record viewership for both the FX event and the Fuel TV prelims for any UFC event or programming.

The next closest show was UFC on FX 2, which scored 1.4 million viewers, while FX 7 nearly doubled all the recent UFC events on FX.

On top of the Belfort vs. Bisping bout, UFC on FX 7's main card featured Daniel Sarafian vs. C.B. Dollaway, Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Ben Rothwell, and Thiago Tavares vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Are you surprised by this solid turnaround in viewership, and does this bode well for last night's debut of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 17?
