Devastating striker Edson Barboza has a new opponent for his upcoming UFC on FX 7 bout in Sau Paulo, Brazil. Find out everything you need to know about unbeaten Brazilian prospect Lucas Martins below!
Who's ready for some Brazilian on Brazilian action?
Lightweight Justin Salas has dropped out of his upcoming UFC on FX 7 bout against Edson Barboza after suffering an undisclosed training injury.
Stepping in for Salas will be unbeaten Braazilian newcomer Lucas Martins for the upcoming event at the Geraldo Jose de Almeida Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil, later this month (Jan. 19, 2013).
Hailing from Minas Gerais, Brazil, Martins sports a spotless 11-0 professional record despite only being a professional fighter for 15 months. The 24-year old fighter out of the Chute Boxe gym went 9-0 this past year, including two wins in the last month with 43 second submission over Thiago Sampaio and a second round head kick knockout over previously unbeaten Oberdan Vieira Tenorio.
Barboza will look to rebound from the first loss of his career, a shocking first round TKO upset at the hands of former WEC champion Jamie Varner at UFC 146. The exciting striker will be looking to not only bounce back but build some buzz about his future prospects again.
UFC on FX 7 will be headlined by a middleweight showdown between Brazilian veteran Vitor Belfort and England's Michael Bisping, which could very well decide the next challenger for Anderson Silva. Check out all the latest rumors and line-up changes here.
