Jon Jones lol'd at Dan Henderson's crack about getting intoxicated and crashing into a utility pole. Will these two ever get the chance to settle their score?
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight number one contender Dan Henderson took a few potshots at reigning division champion Jon Jones earlier this week, wishing his fans a safe new year and one that didn't include getting drunk and crashing into a utility pole.
See the "H-Bomb" drop right here.
"Bones" was not immune to the cheap shot but took it in stride, giving the standard "lol' before acknowledging the "old guy" indeed "got jokes." One thing he doesn't have, however, is a 205-pound title shot. That belongs to friend and team mate Chael Sonnen.
Henderson was expected to challenge Jones for the division strap until a knee injury forced him out of the UFC 151 pay-per-view. When a suitable replacement could not be found, the event was scrapped and both fighters went their separate ways.
But they might still be on a collision course.
The champion needs to successfully defend his title against "The American Gangster" in April, while "Hendo" must overcome Lyoto Machida at the UFC 157 event next month in Anaheim. If both fighters hold up their end of the bargain, we may see them square off once and for all.
Who wants it?
