It was a rough night for several Bellator 85 fighters in Irvine, but none more so than Jacob Noe, who advanced to the light heavyweight tournament semifinals with a win over Seth Petruzelli. Now, thanks to orbital swelling and a suspension from the California State Athletic Commission, Noe's place in the next round is uncertain.

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) today (Jan. 18, 2013) handed down its list of medical suspensions and injuries for those fighters competing at the Bellator 85 event, which was held last Thursday night (Jan. 17) at the UCI Bren Events Center in Irvine, California.

Jacob Noe, who defeated Seth Petruzelli in one of the three light heavyweight tournament quarterfinals on the card, was handed down an indefinitely suspension for left orbital swelling, the most significant suspension of all 22 fighters on the card.

Noe's status in the tournament going forward is unknown at this time.

That's not all.

Eight fighters on the card (Petruzelli, Michael Chandler, Renato Sobral, Pat Curran, Aaron Miller, Hector Ramirez, Mike Guymon and Jamie Yager) were handed down a suspension of 180 days with no contact; however, Guymon appears to have got the worst of it, suffering multiple facial fractures and a fractured jaw.

Below are the full medical suspensions and injuries for Bellator 85 (via MMA Junkie):

The following fighters received mandatory seven-day suspensions for precautionary reasons:

Rick Hawn
Mikhail Zayats
Joe Camacho
J.J. Ambrose
Brian Warren
Emanuel Newton
Savant Young
Joe Williams
Cleber Luciano
Mario Navarro

And the rest:

Jacob Noe: Indefinite suspension (left orbital swelling, possible fracture). Must be cleared by physician.

Seth Petruzelli: Suspended 180 days with 180 days no contact (possible cartilage damage to left knee), must be cleared by orthopedic doctor. Also suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for TKO loss.

Michael Chandler: Suspended 180 days with 180 days no contact (possibly fractured right foot), needs X-ray and clearance by physician.

Renato Sobral: Suspended 180 days with 180 days no contact unless cleared by physician (possible fracture in left knee and elbow pain). Also suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for TKO loss.

Pat Curran: Suspended 180 days (180 days no contact) unless cleared by physician for possibly fractured right metatarsal.

Aaron Miller: Suspended 180 days (180 days no contact) unless cleared by physician for possible dislocated elbow.

Hector Ramirez: Suspended 180 days (180 days no contact) unless cleared by physician for possible dislocated elbow.

Mike Guymon: Suspended 180 days with 180 days no contact unless cleared by physician (possible left check fracture). Also suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for KO loss.

Jamie Yager: Suspended 180 days with 180 days no contact unless cleared by physician (possible torn ligaments in both knees). Also suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for TKO loss.

Jason Lambert: Suspended 60 days (60 days no contact) unless cleared by physician for laceration on right lower eyelid.

Atanas Djambazov: Suspended 60 days (60 days no contact) unless cleared by physician for laceration on left eyebrow.

Patricio Freire: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for hard bout.

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much sooner once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
