"I want to hold all those three titles at 125, ’35 and ’45. If I can do that, that would be amazing. Then I can die a happy man. I want to be the first guy to do it. A lot of people sit there and talk about it but I want to be able to do it. I want to go out there and put that mark on that wall … I can dominate the sport. I believe I can do this. I truly am a little fat kid. I’m not going to be that man who’s going to have their name washed away in the sand. I want to have my name written in the stars."
Looks like former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar isn't the only fighter dreaming of a hat trick. Turns out The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Champion, John Dodson (via Canadian Press), is also planning on grabbing gold in three different weight classes. "The Answer" has already jumped out to a 1-0 lead by holding the 155-pound strap and could add another belt to his collection by dethroning Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 156 next month in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, "The Magician" has to first pull a strap out of Demetrious Johnson's hat later this month at UFC on FOX 6 before he can start talking about other divisions, but even one championship title would be impressive for the self-described "little fat kid" from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
