Video: Strikeforce Founder and CEO Scott Coker reflects on the organization's final show

Strikeforce is gone, but will not soon be forgotten. The San Jose-based MMA organization ran its final show last night (Jan. 12, 2013) and now everyone will move on for good, including company Founder and CEO Scott Coker. In a post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting, Coker discusses the final Strikeforce event and what the future has in store for him.

For a majority of the last seven years, the name Scott Coker has been synonymous with the Strikeforce brand. At every Strikeforce press conference, weigh in and fight night, Coker oversaw operations and played a prominent role in growing the organization from a small regional show into a viable mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

Coker and Strikeforce etched a place in MMA history, but now, as Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) commentator Mike Goldberg would say, "It is all over."

Strikeforce held its final event last Saturday night (Jan. 12, 2013) from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla., with Tarec Saffiedine defeating Nate Marquardt for the Strikeforce welterweight championship in the main event.

The end of the organization was viewed as imminent when it was purchased by UFC parent company ZUFFA in March 2011, and now it's official, with a majority of the athletes under contract likely to transfer to the UFC.

Saturday night's show was MMA event No. 63 in the history of Strikeforce, and Coker was there to see them all.

Strikeforce was Coker's baby that he raised from infancy, and just moments after the company's final show, the Strikeforce Founder and CEO spoke with Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting about his final thoughts and feeling on Strikeforce, as well as his own plans for the future.
