Fear not, Canadian mixed martial arts (MMA) fans.
Strikeforce's final event this weekend will air live in your country after all.
Earlier this week, Super Channel --the longtime broadcaster of Strikeforce events in Canada-- stated they made the "difficult decision" not air the final Strikeforce event this Saturday night (Jan. 12, 2013), which left many bloodthirsty Canadian fans unpleased and wondering where to watch the event.
However, on Friday, the situation took a turn for the better as the premium cable channel announced that deal had been reached with Showtime to broadcast the event to fans north of the border.
"Due to a last minute deal with Showtime, Super Channel is very pleased to announce that we will be broadcasting the final Strikeforce event, live from Chesapeake Energy Center, Oklahoma City." Super Channel stated in a release. "We would like to thank Showtime for their efforts to bring this event to our loyal Canadian fights fans."
Strikeforce: "Marquardt vs. Saffiedine" goes down from the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, OK. A welterweight championship contest serves as the headliner as Nate Marquardt looks to defend his belt against No. 1 contender Tarec Saffiedine. Also on the card is a bout between top heavyweight contender Daniel Cormier and the relatively unknown Dion Staring.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night (Sat., Jan. 12, 2013), which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime in the U.S. and Super Channel in Canada. The latest quick updates of the live action will begin to flow earlier than that around 8 p.m. ET with the "Prelims" bouts on Showtime Extreme.
