UFC on FUEL TV 7, set to take place on Feb. 16, 2013 in London, England, is set to feature Renan Barao defending his interim Bantamweight title against Michael McDonald. In the co-main event, division standout Cub Swanson will take on former lightweight, Dennis Siver, in a fight that has many fans expecting fireworks.
Now, fans have a little more to expect, as Swanson has recently revealed that his fight against Siver will determine the number one contender for the UFC Featherweight title, which Jose Aldo will defend against Frankie Edgar at UFC 156.
Both men have respectable tenures in their fighting careers, as Swanson was a fan favorite in the WEC while Siver came ever so close to the top tier of the lightweight division in his surge from 2010 to 2011. Both men have been known for their exciting styles, and this fight will likely be a showcase of just how talented the featherweights are.
It is important to note that ZUFFA may be promising a little more than it should lately.
Between the relevant fight featuring Ricardo Lamas vs. Erik Koch at UFC on FOX 6, as well as the impending return of Chan Sung Jung, the UFC may be overflowing with top contenders at 145 pounds, a similar situation to what happened to their lightweight division.
Anyone think the winner of this fight should be next in line?
