Showtime free preview weekend includes Strikeforce: 'Marquardt vs. Saffiedine' on Jan. 12

Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans have no excuses this weekend as the Strikeforce: "Marquardt vs. Saffiedine" fight card will be live and FREE to everyone with select cable or satellite thanks to the network's timely decision to offer a free preview weekend. Come for the fights, stay for Gremlins II.

Here's your chance to witness history.

Strikeforce: "Marquardt vs. Saffiedine" will kick off the promotion's final Showtime broadcast when it storms the Chesapeake Energy Arena tomorrow night (Sat., Jan. 12, 2013) in Oklahoma City, OK, featuring a championship main event pitting Nate Marquardt vs. Tarec Saffiedine.

And you can watch it for free!

The cable network is rolling out its free preview weekend (Jan. 11-13), which means you'll get to complement one night of mediocre fights with two nights of mediocre movies, assuming you have one of the following providers:

Comcast: SHOWTIME On Demand and online
Cox: SHOWTIME On Demand
Mediacom: SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME On Demand
Time Warner Cable: SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME On Demand
Suddenlink: SHOWTIME On Demand
Verizon: SHOWTIME, SHOWTIME On Demand and SHOWTIME Anytime

Right now, as I type this, you can tune in and watch "Meet Joe Black" and "Spy Kids," just to name a few.

Must-see TV!

All kidding aside, it's a great opportunity to get a taste of what's to come when most (or at least some) of the Strkeforce fighters graduate to the Octagon following this weekend's fisticuffs. Want to see what all the fuss is about concerning Daniel Cormier?

Or why Josh Barnett is still ranked in the top 10?

Now's your chance. Of course, I would never send you in empty handed, so be sure to get up to speed with my Strikeforce predictions post here and then check back on fight night to follow along in our "Marquardt vs. Saffiedine" live results here. Find out how much everybody weighed here.

See you tomorrow night!
