A mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter since he debuted at 19, Vitor Belfort shares his philosophy on heart, words, fans and more.
"I'm very happy to be a part of this. If you could read my heart, you would see a man of faith, not ashamed of my failures and I think you'll find a guy who's willing to change anytime, a guy who's willing to grow. Words are so powerful. They can penetrate people's heart and create a very bad foundation. Not just for them, but for the person who speaks. Things that we say, sometimes can become real. We just have to be careful because the same thing you put out, sometimes that thing comes inside of you and destroys you. Trash talkers are just speaking words but what really matters when that cage door locks is your skills inside the Octagon."
Sounds like Vitor Belfort has a little message for his fellow UFC on FX 7 headliner Michael Bisping, who recently referred to "The Phenom" as a "punching bag" with the "heart of a chicken." Belfort contends that its skill -- not talk -- that matters once you step inside the Octagon and "The Count" will have to put his money where his mouth is in just over a week when the promotion heads to Sao Paulo, Brazil. How about it Maniacs, is this the end of the Brit's run as a middleweight contender? Or his final hurdle en route to an Anderson Silva title fight?
