When it was announced that Sara McMann had signed with Strikeforce to compete in the promotion's 135-pound division the natural assumption was that she was coming over to provide a fresh challenger for women's mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar and Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey.

And while that may still be true, she'll have to do some work to get there.

That's because she's been booked to throw leather with Liz Carmouche at the Strikeforce: "Cormier vs. Mir" event scheduled for Sat., Nov. 3, 2012, Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

MMAFighting.com brought word of the bout, which is not yet official, earlier today.

McMann is 6-0 in her short but sweet professional career, already racking up wins against the likes of Jan Finney and Shayna Baszler, the latter of which she defeated in her most recent outing at Invicta FC 2 back in July.

Carmouche, meanwhile, has won consecutive bouts at the first two Invicta events after dropping her previous two under the Strikeforce banner, the first being a title bout. Would a victory here earn her another crack at the division crown? As long as Rousey's on top, would she even want it?

Strikeforce: "Cormier vs. Mir" will take place on Nov. 3 in Oklahoma and feature a main event of Daniel Cormier taking on UFC import (for one night only) Frank Mir in a heavyweight showdown on Showtime. In the co-headlining bout, Luke Rockhold will defend his middleweight title against Lorenz Larkin.
