Brazilian Top Team vs. Chute Boxe, part two.
Former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho, who's battled a myriad of injuries and personal problems since his heyday in PRIDE FC, was back in action last night (Sept. 6, 2012) against fellow International mixed martial arts (MMA) attraction Murilo Rua.
Again.
"Ely" first went to battle against "Ninja" at the PRIDE: "Bushido 10" event way back in April 2006, when Filho left the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan, with a hard-fought unanimous decision win. Both fighters would go their separate ways on the Japanese fight scene, but eventually circled back home to settle a score.
The results would be much different their second time out.
That's because Filho and Rua would throw heavy leather from the opening bell at the "Best of the Best" event in Belem, Brazil. What they lacked in technique, they made up for with intent. Ninja would crumble at the 1:20 mark and referee Mario Yamasaki would put an end to the ugliness.
But hey, a win is a win.
