Lots of us get tired of rematch after rematch. Fighters often probably get tired of them too. One fighter who hasn't had to worry about that is Rashad Evans. Coming off only his second loss, the options are endless.
I'm interested in how the UFC will play this. Rashad is a draw. People love him or hate him, but tune in to see his fights either way. Having only lost to Lyoto Machida and Jon Jones pretty much speaks for itself. One thing that makes him is a tough match up for anyone, especially with his wrestling prowess and KO ability. I truly think Rashad has the game to beat anyone but the current titleholder at LHW. So what does the UFC do with him next?
Anderson Silva? I know he's doing a movie. He's talking about finally fighting GSP. Doesn't want to fight Weidman due to lack of name recognition. Why not Evans? That's a definite pay day, and in my mind with a victory would further prove his argument that he is the Greatest Fighter to ever step in the Octagon. Evans can make 185.
Shogun? The fight that never happened. I think this would be an interesting match up and could sort out a good bit in the light heavy weight rankings. Also an opportunity for Shogun if he can show some improvement. His last 3 outings have not been the Shogun we all once knew. Can he get back to the top?
Hendo? Will Hendo fight if it isn't for the title? I think the wrestling would be nullified from both sides and someone would land a big right hand. If Hendo is sidelined and a new top contender emerges, this might be a good fight to make. I could be wrong, but my inclination says don't blink.
Lyoto? Ok, now we're talking rematches but who wouldn't want to see this one. Dana already said that Lyoto is not going to be waiting around for a next shot. We know how those things change, but play along here. Either Lyoto proves that Rashad's standup is drastically inferior and should stick to his bread and butter OR Rashad gets a little Tosh.0 style web redemption and has a rebuttal for all the times he has seen his hyperextended silly face on the web.
What other ideas do you all have? Teixeira if he beats Rampage? Gus? Sound off in the comments section below.
