The Ultimate Fighter: Season by season

As the UFC approaches its 16th season, I thought it would be interested to look back at the previous 15 seasons, starting with the very first season. Let's take a look at the talent that each season has produced.

Season 1

Bobby Southworth - Former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. Last fought for Xtreame MMA in July of 2010.

Sam Hoger - Owns MMA training center in Houston, on 4 fight win streak for various smaller MMA companies.

Forrest Griffin - Season 1 winner, former UFC Lightheavyweight Champion, set to face Chael Sonnen at UFC 155.

Alex Schoenauer - Teaches at Extreme Couture, last fought at Bitetti Combat MMA 4 in 2009 and lost.

Stephan Bonnar - On a three fight winning streak in the UFC, considering retirement but currently wants a third fight with Forrest Griffin.

Mike Swick – Currently returned after missing over two years and defeated DeMarques Johnson on UFC on FOX 4. He’s expected to face Matt Brown on UFC on FOX 5.

Lodune Sincaid - On two fight losing streak, last fought March of 2010 at CCS - Collision in the Cage.

Jason Thacker - Whereabouts unknown.

Josh Koscheck – Last lost to Johnny Hendricks on UFC on FOX 3. To my knowledge he doesn’t currently have a fight scheduled since pulling out of his Ellenberger fight due to a back injury.

Diego Sanchez – Season 1 winner. Last lost to Jake Ellenberger at UFC on Fuel. Recently announced his return to the UFC Lightweight division.

Kenny Florian – Only fighter in UFC history to fight in four different weight classes. Recently lost to Jose Aldo at UFC 136. Since then he’s retired due to multiple injuries.

Josh Rafferty - Last fought in Bellator 28 in September of 2010, losing to Charlie Rader.

Nate Quarry - Last fought in March of 2010, losing to Jorge Rivera. Currently retired.

Chris Leben - Recently lost to Mark Munoz at UFC 138 and is currently serving a 1 year suspension.

Alex Karalexis - Released by Zuffa following the WEC merger, last lost to Tiawan Howard at CES MMA 4, Nowhere to Hide.

Chris Sanford - Whereabouts unknown.

The Ultimate Fighter season 1 has without question produced more talent than any other season, possibly any two seasons combined. It produced five number one contenders (Forrest Griffin, Josh Koscheck, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, and Nate Quarry) and one UFC Champion (Forrest Griffin). It’s a little sad when compared to the recent seasons.

I plan on doing this for every season of the Ultimate Fighter and will have the next one up soon, depending on the feedback I get here. Anyway, thanks for reading.
