The UFC handed out its usual three bonus awards to fighters coming out of the UFC on FUEL TV 5 event today (Sept. 29, 2012) in Nottingham, England, and all three were more than deserving.
UFC on FUEL TV 5: "Struve vs. Miocic" from the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
Matt Wiman earned himself "Submission of the Night" by weathering the storm brought forth by Paul Sass and his relentless pressure on the mat to beat him "Sassangle" at his own game, tapping him with an armbar inside the first round.
Brad Pickett lived up to his moniker of "One Punch" by landing a seriously sick uppercut to put Yves Jabouin on his keister. The forced nap was forceful enough to earn Pickett "Knockout of the Night" honors and a hefty bonus.
Finally, the main event bout between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic took home "Fight of the Night" honors for their back-and-forth battle that ended when "The Skyscraper" unleashed a series of deadly strikes that Miocic had no answer for in the second stanza.
Guys get hurt when bombs get dropped on their heads.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FUEL TV 5:
Submission of the Night -- Matt Wiman
Knockout of the Night -- Brad Pickett
Fight of the Night -- Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
