Paul Sass was beaten at his own game at UFC on FUEL TV 5: "Struve vs. Miocic" in Nottingham, England, when Matt Wiman submitted him with an armbar.

UFC on FUEL TV 5: "Struve vs. Miocic" rocked the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham, England, today (Sept. 29, 2012) with a lightweight lowdown showcasing the submission skills of Paul Sass taking on the "perpetually underrated," as UFC commentator Jon Anik proclaimed, Matt Wiman.

Sass was undefeated at 13-0 with a rocket strapped to his ass, ready to go to the top to challenge the very best of the best. Wiman represented a solid if unspectacular bit of turbulence along the way.

Because of his propensity for ending fights via tap, nap, or snap -- 12 of 13, in fact -- it was no real surprise that Sass went for a takedown after about six seconds. It didn't take long for him to start throwing submissions either, as he worked a leg lock, then an omoplata, and then positioned over to go for an ankle lock.

Relentless.

His zest for the finish almost cost him, though, when Wiman threw his legs up and nearly locked in a triangle, which would have been a sweet bit of irony. He lost the triangle but transitioned to an armbar and the first round was officially nuts.

Wiman had the cage working against him but once he could extend his legs and rip the arm, that was all she wrote.

Bye bye undefeated record, sorry hometown fans. The classy British crowd clapped to acknowledge the impressive come-from-behind win.

Well played, ladies and gents.
