Anderson Silva and Stephan Bonnar will collide in the unlikeliest marquee match up perhaps ever at UFC 153 on Oct. 13, 2012. Watch the video trailer to see how the MMA promotion plans to spin its make-shift main event.
"When the greatest fighter in history faces "The American Psycho" one of two things can happen: A spectacular knockout or a historic upset."
That's the angle that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) plans to take as it promotes its upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) event from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Oct. 13, 2012.
There's not really an alternative marketing hook, considering the UFC 153 main event features the most decorated champion in the mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion's history, Anderson Silva, packing on 20 pounds to battle a semi-retired veteran, Stephan Bonnar, in a three-round "fun" main event fight.
The odds are long and laughable.
Injuries to Jose Aldo, as well as Quinton Jackson, turned the fight card upside-down. Instead of a "super" fight between Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar, which was supposed to be buttressed by a Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira co main event, Silva and Bonnar will be supported by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman.
