Were you one of the many who simply weren't entertained by the Demetrious Johnson vs. Joseph Benavidez flyweight championship fight that took place at UFC 152: "Jones vs. Belfort" last night (Sat., Sept. 22, 2012) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada?
If you answered yes, you're a moron.
Before you skip the rest and head straight for the comments to blast me like I'm Jesse Holland (thank god, I'm not), those are the words of UFC President Dana White. He attempted to hold back at the post-fight press conference but eventually, his emotions got he best of him.
They always do.
Here's the venom White was spitting at reporters when they dared bring up the booing from fans inside the Air Canada Centre during the co-main event last night:
"Let me tell you what: If you didn't like that flyweight fight, please, I'm begging you, don't ever buy another UFC pay-per-view again. Don't ever buy another one. I don't want your money. You're a moron, you don't like fighting and you don't appreciate great talent or heart if you didn't like that flyweight fight. ... I wasn't surprised; I was horrified by the booing. But you know what? I tell these guys after weigh-ins, the way this relationship works, these guys are our partners. We go out and do this, that and everything else, and these guys go out and deliver. And guess what? In every fight you see in the UFC, two guys aren't going to run at each other and just start swinging like mad men. These two guys have worked their entire lives to get to this point, and it's a five-round title fight. If they can get the knockout and submission real quick, sure they're going to go for it, but if the guys are so talented? You have now the world champion and the second-best guy in the world. It's just insane. It drives me crazy."
The argument seems to be that when you're dealing with the best of the best, it's unfair to expect a quick finish from either side because, well, that's not supposed to happen at the highest levels of the sport.
Then again, who is Dana White to call his fans, the very people he depends on to pay the bills, morons because they didn't enjoy watching Johnson and Benavidez cut a blistering pace while seemingly doing little to no damage through 25 minutes of fighting?
Doesn't seem so fair.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, of course, and White will always be the most vocal about his. But now it's your turn, Maniacs, to be vocal about yours.
White thinks you're a moron if you didn't like that fight but you think White is _____.
