It amazes me the amount of shit that Anderson Silva gets around here! He has been the most dominate fighter/champ that the UFC has ever seen, by far! He's the only champ that goes up in weight to fight, but yet he still gets called out for only fighting smaller guys?? Cutting weight is part of the sport, why don't people get that? Who has bones fought that's smaller than him? GSP is also bigger than most of his opponents! And I never see them moving up! Imo bones fighting Vitor is very much like Anderson fighting someone like B.J. or Matt Hughes (probably the latter being that B.J. was mostly at 155.) A fighter one weight class below that was the champ, but has also fought at a higher weight. If Silva did fight Penn could you imagine the shit that would be said about that!?!? Christ, he gets shit for wanting to fight GSP, a huge 170 fighter that's a GREAT wrestler! And it's funny because people say that he avoids wrestlers yet he wants to fight one of the UFC's best! Is Silva bigger than GSP, yea, but not by a lot. GSP definitely has more muscle, but Anderson is taller. Both would have to cut weight if they fought at 180 so by fight time their weights would be very close!
Some say that Silva is a bitch for not wanting to fight jones, but why doesn't jones get as much shit for not wanting to fight Silva, a smaller fighter? BOTH have said that they don't want the fight, not just Anderson! If Anderson said that he didn't want to fight GSP he would get shit for that! And Bones is fn huge! The reach he has is more than the HW's! I would actually like to see that fight because I believe that Silva takes it, but who knows. Hopefully one day we'll find out!
Jones got a lot of shit for not fighting sonnen to save the card, but if that were Silva it would have been much worse! It's sad that jones couldn't fight a smaller fighter on short notice! Jones had a full training camp and sonnen didn't which makes it even worse! Jones has a CEO mentality not a fighters and that will hurt our sport, especially if the younger guys follow his lead! I do think that the cards are watered down these days and the cancelled card proved that, but if these young guys don't have a fighters spirit than we may be seeing more of this. A fighter should keep themselves in shape and be willing to fight without a full training camp. Back in the day you never knew who you were going to fight, now they need 3 months for each fighter they fight? That's bullshit! Imagine getting into a fight at a bar and say, "hold up, let me prepare 3 months for you and then we'll go at it?" LOL OK, it's not the same thing, but imo kinda is. I want to root for a real fighter, not a business man! Well, this post took a turn, not my intention, but whatever, just my 2 cents.
Hope whomever reads this enjoys it and makes some comments. Have a good one guys!
