You know who has the worst job in all of mixed martial arts (MMA)? The guy who makes these.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir has suffered an undisclosed injury and withdrawn from his upcoming Strikeforce fight against Daniel Cormier, which was originally scheduled for the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sat., Nov. 3, 2012.
MMA Weekly confirmed the news earlier today.
Mir becomes the latest high-profile fighter to sink a televised main event, not long after Dan Henderson's knee injury and the ensuing scramble to replace him forced a cancellation of the UFC 151 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card in late August.
A "Plan B" has not been established.
If Cormier is put on ice until Mir is up and running again, Luke Rockhold vs. Lorenz Larkin will likely take center stage for the Showtime broadcast, but again, nothing is official at this time. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more on this unfortunate news as it develops.
