Zorobabel Moreira will fight for the ONE FC Lightweight title on October 6, 2012 and his opponent was confirmed this morning as being former Shooto Champion Kotetsu Boku.
The fight will take place at ONE FC: 'Rise of the Kings' at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and is set for five rounds. Moreira rose to contention by stopping three opponents out of three at ONE FC to date, Andy Wang, Felipe Enomoto and, most recently, Roger Huerta.
The Brazilian is a jiu-jitsu black belt and world champion, boasts a 7-1 record and has a big fan following in Singapore where he is based with Evolve MMA. He moved up to welterweight to fight Huerta at short notice at ONE FC: 'Destiny of Warriors' but will be dropping back down to his natural weight of 155 pounds for this fight.
Boku is a former Shooto champion whose record stands at 19-7-2 with notable wins over UFC veterans Hermes Franca and Eiji Mitsuoka. He has only fought once in the last year, knocking Shin Kochiwa out cold with a single punch at Shooto in July
This is the second title fight confirmed for ONE FC: 'Rise of the Kings' with Leandro Issa and Soo Chul Kim set to contest the bantamweight belt on the same night. A featherweight title fight is also believed to be in the works and three of the quarterfinals of the ONE FC Bantamweight Grand Prix will also be taking place on the same night.
Other fighters confirmed for the card are Melvin Manhoef, coming off a recent win at Road FC 9, and Singaporean Radeem Rahman with opponents set to be announced any day now. Although Eric Kelly and Eduard Folayang are both guaranteed title shots they will have to wait a little bit longer for them as both are already committed to fighting at URCC 22 in November.
ONE FC: 'Rise of the Kings' will be headlined by a bout between Shinya Aoki and Arnaud Lepont. The online stream will be $10 USD and it will also be available on pay-per-view (PPV) in the US for the first time.
