Can you believe at one point the flyweight championship tournament final pitting Joseph Benavidez vs. Demetrious Johnson was the main event of UFC 152 on Sept. 22, 2012, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada?
Me neither.
Now, the much bigger (both figuratively and literally) Jon Jones will defend his light heavyweight title against Vitor Belfort as the headlining act, pushing Benavidez vs. Johnson to co-main event status. That's fine with them and actually, it probably works out better.
More pay-per-view buys, bigger payday, and so on and so forth.
Still, the little guys are getting a decent promotional push, all things considered, and that includes UFC cameras following Benavidez around to document his preparation in this "Fighter Diary" episode. We learn that "The Beefcake" doesn't know much about much but he read something somewhere. Or was told something from someone.
And he definitely punches harder than Michael Bisping.
