Super Fight League (SFL) just got some stiff competition.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues to make good on its promise for global domination after announcing yesterday its television broadcasting partnership with SONY SIX, which will become the new home for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) franchise in 2013.
From UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta (via MMA Weekly):
"The UFC will be successful in India even without local stars, but what we've seen around the world is fans really want to see one of their own get a chance to compete at the highest level. Somewhere out there in a country of 1.2 billion there is a Indian champion, someone who will capture the imagination of the fans and help take the sport to a whole new level."
TUF is about to enter its sixteenth season this Friday night (Sept. 14, 2012) on the FX Channel and has already crossed the border with successful debuts in both Brazil and Australia. Aside from its televised drama and slick production, it's also helped catapult the careers of several up-and-coming fighters.
Anyone think India is the next logical step in ZUFFA's International expansion, or not so much?
