After losing the title shot to Lyoto Machida after UFC on FOX 4, Shogun will probably fight a top-ranked fighter for the next title shot in the UFC`s Light Heavyweight Division. Everybody and their mother is saying that his next opponent will be Alexander Gustafsson. The Swede, who won a match against Thiago Silva in April, is riding a streak of five consecutive wins.
"I'd take a fight against Shogun any day of the week. A win over him would prove that I am a top 5 fighter in this weight class", he said in an interview to the website Kimura.se
He also shot down rumors that he was injured. "I feel good and completely healthy. After the fight against Thiago Silva I focused on rehabbing the minor injuries I had from last year."
According to sportv.com, Gus is currently in short notice to step up in case either Jon Jones or Dan Henderson cannot fight come September 1st.
