Former UFC heavyweight champions collide as Tim Sylvia vs Andrei Arlovski added to ONE FC: 'Pride of a Nation'

There will be some serious bad blood at ONE FC: 'Pride of a Nation' as two men who fought on no fewer than three occasions for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight title, Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, go head to head one last time.

Having fought three times, the two were never going to be soul mates, but the relationship took a turn for the worse when Sylvia was spotted out and about with Arlovski's ex girlfriend, Patrycja Mikula. 'The Pitbull' was not exactly delighted about this and shared his thoughts on the matter in a famous interview with Ariel Helwani which is posted further down this article.

The two men were rumored to be fighting each other at Pro Elite earlier this year and Arlovski had the following to say about the prospect of facing Sylvia for a fourth time,

"I would love to fight pee-pee taste (see the video for explanation!). It’s going to be our fourth match, I beat him once and he beat me twice and it’s personal. He’s the only person in the word I really want to fight, really, really fight, it’d be a nasty fight. I don’t want to talk about what would happen in the fight, he’s a piece of shit and I’d just try to kick his blah..blah..blah..."

ONE FC: 'Pride of a Nation' is set for August 31st at the Areneta Coliseum in Manila. 16,500 fans are expected for what will be the biggest MMA event in the history of the Philippines and will also feature former UFC Lightweight champion Jens Pulver, former Strikeforce champion Renato Sobral and current DREAM champions Shinya Aoki and Bibiano Fernandes.

Arlovski had originally been set to face Soa Palelei but this bout has now been scrapped and Sylvia has stepped in to replace the Australian. This will be one of two heavyweight fights on the card with Rolles Gracie also set to face off against Tony Bonello and the winners of both bouts will potentially be in contention for a title shot.

When the potential Pro Elite fight was being discussed last year Sylvia seemed to be very confident that he could beat Arlovski for a third time,

"Me knocking him out I think I ruined the poor guy, since I knocked him out he hasn’t been the same."

Sylvia's record currently stands at a very respectable 31-7 and his UFC record is 10-4. He is riding a three fight win streak and has won seven out of his last eight fights, claiming the PWP Heavyweight Championship in the process.

His opponent has also been in good form of late, Arlovski has won his last two fights by KO or TKO, boasts an overall record of 17-9 and also has a UFC record of 10-4. It is worth noting that neither man was cut by the UFC but both chose to walk away because they felt they could get better contracts elsewhere.

You can see the video in which Arlovski tells Ariel Helwani what he has to say to Sylvia about his relationship with Patrycja Mikula below:

Another fight was added to the card for ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors as 4-2-1 Andrew Benibe takes on 6-1 URCC lightweight champion Honorio Banario in a featherweight match. Only Aoki and Sobral are now awaiting an opponent and the card is below
