Turf war!
Despite the stranglehold Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has on the world of mixed martial arts (MMA), former K-1 star Ray Sefo is bringing his World Series of Fighting (WSOF) promotion to the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Nov. 3, 2012.
The fight card is expected to be televised on the NBC Sports Network (formerly known as the Versus Channel) and will feature longtime MMA veteran Roger Huerta taking on Kurt Southern.
MMA Weekly has more:
The World Series of Fighting is based around the tournament format of events with 16-man brackets filling up five different weight classes in the promotion.
The first card however will just be a standard fight card as they introduce themselves to the world of MMA. Dominance MMA owner and operator Ali Abdel-Aziz will be acting as matchmaker for the new promotion.
A press release is expected in the coming weeks to announce additional bouts, as well as provide more details regarding the future of WSOF and its roster.
Stay tuned.
