Mac is back.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight and Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Champion Mac Danzig is looking to string together consecutive wins for the first time in over four years when he slugs it out with Takanori Gomi at the UFC on FUEL TV 6 event scheduled for the CotaiArena at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel in the People’s Republic of China, on Nov. 10, 2012.
Danzig tweeted the news earlier today.
The vegan warrior (21-9) was able to work his way back into the win column with a unanimous decision win over fellow TUF champ Efrain Escudero at the UFC 145: "Jones vs. Evans" pay-per-view (PPV) back in April. He sandwiched that victory, along with a knockout over Joe Stevenson at UFC 124, around a decision loss to Matt Wiman at UFC on Versus 6 in late 2011.
Is this a new beginning for the former King of the Cage? Or the beginning of the end?
Gomi (33-8) refuses to give mixed martial arts (MMA) referees the time of day since his Octagon debut back in early 2010. In five trips to the cage, he's been submitted three times and knocked out two opponents, including Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 144 last February in his native Japan.
Can Danzig be number three?
UFC on FUEL TV 6 is expected to be headlined by a middleweight match-up pitting former division kingpin Rich Franklin against ex-Strikeforce 185-pound champion Cung Le. Thiago Silva vs. Stanislav Nedkov are also expected to sling leather in the 205-pound division.
