Road FC has been an Asian MMA success story, it consistently hosts events in a 7,000 capacity arena in Seoul which by all accounts is always full to capacity and produces a constant supply of Korean talent, much of which finds its way onto the ONE FC roster.
Next month is Road FC 9 'Beatdown' and after booking Bob Sapp for the last show Road FC has upped the ante even further by bringing in Melvin Manhoef and Minowaman. Both will be up against Korean opposition at the event which is set for September 15th.
Manhoef is signed to ONE FC but but as Road FC is a part of the ONE FC Network he is contractually free to fight for them, just like Vuyisile Colossa and Brian Choi did last year. He is taking on Kim Jae Young who normally fights at light heavyweight and has a record of 14-9-2.
Ikuhisa Minowa, better known as 'Minowaman' made a reputation in Japan for being willing to take on the biggest fighters in the world at PRIDE and DREAM despite being naturally a middleweight himself. He is a veteran of almost 100 fights and will be going up against Jin Soo Yuk who will be making his Road FC debut and currently has a record of 0-2.
Road FC 9 will also see the start of the Lightweight Grand Prix, although the participants have yet to be revealed. Japanese veteran Shungo Oyama won the Middleweight Grand Prix while Korean Kyung Ho Kang, who subsequently signed with the UFC, won the Bantamweight Grand Prix.
