UFC on FX 3: "Johnson vs. McCall" from the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., is officially in the books after a surprisingly entertaining night (June 8, 2012) of mixed martial arts (MMA) fights.
In the UFC on FX 3 main event of the evening, Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall ran back their Flyweight tournament semifinal match after their first encounter ended in disaster earlier this year. Lightning did not strike twice, but it was certainly a solid scrap that was competitive and close, with "Might Mouse" doing just a little but more to upend "Uncle Creepy" via decision after three rounds.
Johnson is now set to challenge Joseph Benavidez for the right to become the first-ever 125-pound champion in the promotion's history later this year.
As usual, the stars of the show came to dish the dirt on the event immediately afterward, including Demetrious Johnson, Ian McCall, Erick Silva, Mike Pyle and Eddie Wineland. Naturally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White emceed the post-fight event wrap up show.
One that he apparently couldn't wait to exit due in large part to the anemic attendance, which was less than 7,000. As a result, White declared that it would be a long time before the promotion returns to the region.
Sorry, South Florida.
