Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez rematch likely for UFC 152 main event in Toronto

This is the rematch!

When Junior dos Santos knocked out Cain Velasquez to win the heavyweight championship in 64 seconds at the first UFC on Fox event back on Nov. 11, 2011, it seemed like the fallen former titleholder would have to scratch and claw his way back to the top.

Instead, it took him just one fight to earn his second crack at "Cigano."

Indeed, UFC President Dana White announced that Dos Santos and Velasquez are being booked to collide for a second time, likely at the UFC 152 event scheduled for Sept. 22 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Velasquez earned his second title shot by pasting Antonio Silva at UFC 146 this past May 26 in Las Vegas. He beat "Bigfoot" so bloody that his manager has since called for elbows on the ground to be outlawed due to how much blood Silva poured all over the Octagon that night.

The very same evening, Dos Santos blasted his way past Frank Mir for his first successful title defense, knocking out the former champion in the second round, just as he predicted he would.

In the immediate aftermath, fans and pundits alike called for a rematch, especially considering Alistair Overeem won't be available to return until late December. Really, that makes the timing of this whole thing rather convenient, wouldn't you say?

UFC 152 has no venue at present time but is expected to take place on Sept. 22 in Toronto. Dos Santos vs. Velasquez part deux will serve as the main event of the evening while B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald will act as the co headlining fight.
