Remember that Mike Tyson video tribute from Roots of Fight we've been teasing?
It's finally here -- and if you think you know everything there is to know about the "Iron" man -- think again. The Roots of Fight mini-documentary has a couple of great moments from boxing's former heavyweight champion as he reflects on his phone call from Muhammad Ali and so much more.
Including the man widely-credited for shaping the boxer known as "Kid Dynamite," Constantine "Cus" D'Amato.
"This fuckin' old, white Italian guy had put me on this mission. He didn't know me! He put me on this mission said you'll win the local championship, you'll win the regionals, you'll win the nationals, you'll win the Olympics, you'll be the youngest heavyweight champion of all time. And he said this to me with no hesitation at all. His confidence, delivery, made me believe this was gonna be an easy task. And there we were. Like two pirates venturing off together to capture our riches and decimate anyone who stood in our way."
There's also a very touching story about his mindset as he prepared for the Larry Holmes fight back in 1988 and how there was much more at stake for Tyson than just garnering a win over the "Easton Assassin." This was about payback.
But you won't know any of that unless you check out the video after the jump.
The Roots of Fight short film (above) also has special appearances from boxing legend Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini along with insights from UFC stars Randy Couture and Forrest Griffin, as well as hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg.
