Programming alert: 'UFC's Road to the Octagon' debuts on July 29 on FOX

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has its "Countdown" special as well as its "Primetime" series to help promote and preview a majority of its upcoming pay-per-view (PPV) fight cards.

Now, it has "Road to the Octagon," as well.

The newly-announced special is designed to help build ratings interest in the upcoming UFC on FOX 4 event, headlined by a light heavyweight showdown featuring Mauricio Rua vs. Brandon Vera, booked for the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012.

"UFC's Road to the Octagon" premieres July 29 at 2 p.m. ET.

In addition, the hour-long preview will also take a closer look at the rest of the main card fights in advance of the network-televised special from "The City of Angels."

Here is the current UFC on FOX 4 fight card and line-up:
