This is my first Fan Post and I don't plan on doing many,if any, more.I'm home from work and I have nothing better to do right now than this.Don't expect anything special.I've been thinking about the UFC Welterweight Division and what a mess it is right now,due in no small part to Carlos Condit. The entire point of an Interim Championship is so that the division can keep flowing and that there is still a goal,a target for contenders to aim for in the form of an interim champion while the undisputed champion is unable to fight in,you know...THE INTERIM.By not defending the title,Condit has defeated the entire purpose of the Interim Championship.Interim Championships are not just title shots that come with a belt.
(Billionaire/philanthropist/genius/pussymagnet/superhero Tony Stark,a.k.a Iron Man cheers as Condit knocks out Dan Hardy.Stark would later ask Condit to be War Machine and fight evil with him,but Condit declined as he thought he might be confused for the shitty MMA fighter also called War Machine.James Rhodes would ultimately fill the role, never knowing he was 2nd choice.)
I can't really blame him that much,it's his career, his body, his bank account,so it's his choice as to whether he waits or not,and there's nothing we can do about it.He probably doesn't give two shits what we think, nor does he have to,nor should he.He's put his time in,he fought hard almost every time,he got his wins, even if one of them was a narrow split decision (Ellenberger)another was a very questionable stoppage (Rory MacDonald couldn't handle 10 more seconds of that?Really?Really?),and another was razor thin and just as easily could have gone the other way (Diaz),and no I'm not trying to be a smartass bringing up these close/questionable wins. But now he's affecting (effecting?) careers apart from his own,and negatively at that.
(Diaz lands a blow to Condit's face,or as Diaz nut-huggers/Condit-haters say,"Totally fucks that pussy's shit up beyond recognition man!!WEED,BICYCLES,TUPAC AND 209-4-LYFE!!! I'm so hard right now!!")
But maybe the train has left the station anyway, because the time for a defense has already come.I'd say this month or next month would have been the right timing given the November timetable GSP laid out.For it to happen between now and GSP's targeted November return would mean Condit would have to train for a fight, defend the title (or lose it),and then he (or the new interim champion) would have to train for GSP and be ready by November/December.Quite alot to deal with in such a timeframe, and that's only if Condit/the new Interim Champion emerges relatively unscathed. But even then that's only if GSP's November estimate proves to be correct. What if he's injured again? What if Condit is injured? The entire thing is a runaway train, but one thing is for sure;it seems there's no going back now.
(Condit punches Diaz in the eye,or as Diaz haters/Condit dickriders say,"Bashes that bitchy crybaby cheating loser pot-head's fuckin face in til there's nothing left!!Where's the lotion?I have to fap to this NOW!!")
I'm just terribly disappointed he won't defend the title and consequently all these guys have to square dance with each other and,in Hendricks' case, choose to take up to a year off so that they can cash in their Title Shot Rain Check in the distant future.People are fighting for shots at shots at title shots, and it's ridiculous. On the other hand, there is something interesting (if not kind of shitty and unfair) about watching these guys have to prove themselves over and over again.Perhaps this tedious, redundant process will show us who the truest and most deserving, unquestionable contender is among these men.
But I'm still ticked off about it.Sound off below if you want.
Should Condit defend (or should he have defended) the Interim Belt before GSP's return?
