Jose Aldo vs Erik Koch staredown pic from UFC 149 press conference in Calgary

Jose Aldo (left) vs. Erik Koch for the 145-pound title at UFC 149 on July 21 in Calgary.

The UFC 149: "Aldo vs. Koch" pay-per-view (PPV) event is still a couple of months away, but that doesn't mean main event participants Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch couldn't get together for a little pre-fight staredown.

That's exactly what they did earlier today (May 9, 2012) at Shaw Court in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to kick things off for the promotion's "Cow Town" debut on July 21, 2012.

Ooh-rah.

Koch is a Roufusport product who was last seen inside the Octagon winning a closely contested decision against The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 12 winner Jonathan Brookins back in Sept. 2011. "New Breed" was expected to take on a fellow 145-pound rising star, Dustin Poirier, at UFC 143 earlier this year; however, a training injury forced him to withdraw from the highly anticipated bout.

Will he be good enough to stop the striking prowess of "Scarface," who's won 14 fights in a row including three under the UFC banner? We'll find out this summer.
