Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will hold a public press conference today (May 9, 2012) in advance of UFC 149: Aldo vs. Koch which will take place later this summer (July 21) at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The press conference will begin promptly at 12 p.m. ET live from Shaw Court in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. .
Jose Aldo is the current UFC featherweight champion and is widely regarded as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. He's successfully defended his title five times and really made a name for himself in his last fight, stopping then-undefeated Chad Mendes in the first round at UFC 142 in his native Brazil.
Erik Koch was in the right place at the right time. "New Breed" is coming off a unanimous decision victory over The Ultimate Fighter season 12 winner Jonathan Brookins and is in the midst of a four fight winning streak. The diverse striker expects to challenge Aldo in some areas he hasn't been tested yet.
We'll deliver the LIVE video feed after the jump.

Edit: Hemmi here. Sorry fellas. Thought it was at 3 p.m. I'll provide a recap of all the interesting quotes below:
Jose Aldo: I'm very excited to be here today and I can't wait until July 21st. I've really enjoyed being in Canada the second time. I loved the Canadian public and I'm excited to be fighting Erik and to be defending the title.
Erik Koch: I just want to say, all you guys are awesome. I've got great fans in Canada. All down to Earth, really nice. I'm very excited to get the fight with Jose and just put on a show. UFC 149, I think it will be a remarkable fight, a great main event and you guys will be entertained.
Tom Wright: Back in March when Dana and I introduced that we were coming to Calgary, he said we would bring a stacked card to Calgary. He has an understanding of how important the UFC market is here. Not only have we brought a championship bout here but we really have a stacked card. We have a current UFC champion and two former UFC champions. Big Nog, the former heavyweight champion will be fighting Cheick Kongo and Shogun Rua, a former light heavyweight champion will be fighting Thiago Silva. We also have two former winners of The Ultimate Fighter on this card. Michael Bisping won season three and coaches seasons nine and 14 will be fighting Tim Boetsch and we've got Court McGee, who won season 11 and will be fighting Nick Ring. We've got six countries represented on this card.
Jose Aldo: Erik is very well deserved. I wasn't so surprised. There are some other interesting names to face as well but I'm up for the challenge.
Erik Koch: When I found out I got the fight, this is my dream and I've been trying to get it for a while. When I got the call, I'll tell ya I literally went to my living room, got down on my knees and just screamed at the top of my lungs. It's awesome. This is 23 years in the making. I've been doing this since I was a little kid and just to be here and to get a chance especially against such a dominant champion who is an awesome test. It's an awesome challenge. I'm just really excited.
Jose Aldo: I'm not too worried about the elevation. I've fought in places that are higher elevation and I actually like the challenge
Jose Aldo: I'll be here to work. All work no play. I'll just concentrate on the fight and do the best I can. I won't participate in the Calgary Stampede.
Jose Aldo: I'm excited to conquer the hearts of the Canadian fans. I was originally very happy to fight in front of my fans in Brazil, but I'm equally up to the challenge of fighting in Canada.
Jose Aldo: I will have to wait until the moment where I win and then think of something to thank the crowd for fighting with me. It has to be something that will be good for both people.
Tom Wright: Jason MacDonald has been a remarkable ambassador for this sport. He's traveled across this country and he would like nothing better than to finish his career in Calgary. He's one of those great athletes and he's hoping Dana or Joe Silva will give him the opportunity to finish here. He tells stories about there wasn't even a gym in Calgary where he started training and now there are something upwards of 75 gyms in the Calgary area alone and Jason is partly responsible for that. I will be pulling for him and will make a call to Dana right after his fight.
Erik Koch: A lot comes with it. There's a lot more exposure and things I've got to do. A fight's a fight. I've never got nervous before a fight. I don't think there will be jitters. I just have to be mentally sound and I don't think I'll have a problem with it.
Tom Wright: Tickets go on sale to the public this Saturday. They start at $85 and go up to $650. UFC Fight Club members can get an opportunity for tickets early tomorrow.
