While it didn't set any major records, the prelims for UFC 146 performed admirably this past weekend.
The official ratings are in for the UFC 146: "Dos Santos vs. Mir" preliminary card, which aired live on the major cable network FX this past Saturday night (May 26, 2012) from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada..
The final tally was 1.3 million viewers, coming by way of Sherdog, which was down slightly from the 1.6 million viewers who tuned in for the undercard portion of UFC 145 this past April, which was also featured on FX. .
Not the end of the world.
The "Dos Santos vs. Mir" prelims featured a variety of popular fighters including beleaguered former welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy, who still drew a huge reaction from the crowd despite a four fight losing streak. Those 1.3 million viewers watched Hardy end the streak with a first round knockout against Duane Ludwig.
Also featured were recent coach of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14, Jason Miller, TUF 14 winner Diego Brandao as well as perhaps the biggest surprise of the night, former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner pulling off a tremendous first round knockout of much-hyped Brazilian striker Edson Barboza.
Hopefully you were part of this audience, as it was a quite a spectacle.
Stay tuned (literally).
