Bellator Fighting Championships returns TONIGHT (May 18, 2012) to L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with the continuation of the Welterweight tournament and a Middleweight tourney final fight.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of Bellator 69 below, beginning with the MTV2 telecast at 8 p.m. ET. In addition, we'll deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the undercard action much earlier in the evening (beginning at 7 p.m.).
Headlining the main event will be a Bellator season six middleweight tournament final featuring a pair of hot-headed strikers in Brazilian Maiquel Falcao and Swede Andreas Spang. Both men practically came to blows in their last staredown so this should be very interesting.
Also on tap will be the second half of the Belaltor season six welterweight semifinals, which will pit undersized youngster David Rickels against powerful French judo practitioner Karl Amoussou.
In female mixed martial arts (MMA) action, the number one and two ranked 115 pounders in the world will duke it out as Japanese submission ace Megumi Fujii takes on American Top Team's Jessica Aguilar. Lastly, heavyweights Ron Sparks and Kevin Asplund are expected to throw down in a tournament eliminator bout.

185 lbs.: Maiquel Falcão vs. Andreas Spang
Round one: Spang with a jab. Falcao answers with a big combo. Spang with the jab again. Spang misses with a big overhand right. Good kick by Falcao. Falcao with a god combo, but Spang eventually gets out of trouble and lands a big uppercut. Falcao looked dazed for a second but recovers. Falcao clinches up against the fence and tries for underhooks. Good knees by Spang. Knee to the body by Falcao. Falcao using dirty boxing. Both fighters continue to trade knees while tied up on the cage. Falacao looks to get his back from standing position. Spang defending but not in a good position. Falcao picks him up and slams him to the canvas violently. Spang kneeling as Falcao still has a hold of his back. Falcao with the hammerfists now as Spang is somewhat turtled up. Knee to the ribs by Falcao and Spang is now on one knee. Spang trying hard to get up and he finally does. Falcao grabs his hips and throws him down, once more. Minute and a half to go. Spang back to standing but Falcao is still all over him and has his hips. Spang drops to one knee to avoid being kneed in the head and Falcao fell for it. Falcao with the illegal knee to a grounded opponent, calling the referee to stop action and give Spang five minutes to recover. Falcao has just lost a point. This could be costly. Return to action. Back to center. Good leg kick by Spang. Spang throws a big head kick and misses. Falcao rushes in and clinches up. Falcao sweeps but Spang rolls and gets out of trouble. Falcao closes the distance and clinches up again, landing a good knee, but Spang answers with a big spinning backfist, and then a 1-2 combo to end the round. 9-9 tied round (due to point reduction to Falcao).
Round two: Head kick by Spang is blocked. Good jab by Spang. Falcao answers with nice combo and then shoots for a successful takedown. Falcao moves immediately to side control . He's close to getting full mount. Spang rolls on his side, trying desperately to avoid being fully mounted. Falcao has the crucifix mount for a moment, but Spang ties his leg up. Spang rolls and Falcao takes his back. Hammerfist by Falcao. Spang is turtled up. Falcao with some hard shots from the top. Three minutes to go. Spang in kneeling position with Falcao all over his back. Falcao continues to sneak quick, short punches in every opening available. Spang tries to get back to his feet but he is promptly pulled back down. Multiple short punches in the ribs by Falcao. Huge hammerfists to the sides of the head by Falcao. Spang crawls towards the fence and will try to use it to get back up. Falcao using knees to the thighs. Spang is able to stand briefly, but Falcao, never letting go, throws him right back down and is on his back again. Falcao continues to apply pressure as the round winds down. nee to the ribs by Falcao. Spang gets back up but again, he is thrown right back down to the mat. Falcao on top as the round comes to a close. 10-9 Falcao.
Round three: Spang comes forward pawing with the jab. Good leg kick by Falcao. Good overhand right by Falcao who uses it to transition into the takedown. Falcao on top. Spang reverses but Falcao sweeps and is back on top. Spang turtled up again, where he spent much of the second round. Falcao with some huge hammerfists. Falcao using knees to the legs and rear of his opponent to wear out his legs and keep him down. Spang tries to get up but Falcao stays on him. Spang goes for a standing/kneeling front choke, but Falcao has none of it, defends and takes him down again. Falcao is really all over Spang, nailing him with short punches and knees. Spang looks totally flustered and it's hard to blame him. Spang is able to get back on his feet, but Falcao has his hips and is able to drag him right back down again. Falcao with punches to the ribs and sides of the head. Knees to the thighs by Falcao. Spang continues to try and stand, and each time he takes a ton of punishment, only to then be placed back on the mat, in not so graceful fashion. Spang is finally able to get back to his feet with a minute left. Spang is throwing all he has at Falcao now in desperation. Spang throws a kick which is caught by Falcao, who routinely takes him down again. Falcao has full mount. Spang rolls and gives up his back. Back to full mount and the bell rescues him. 10-8 Falcao.

170 lbs.: David Rickels vs. Karl Amoussou
Round one: Amoussou gets started right away with a body kick and then a good combo. Rickels answers with a kick that lands a little low. Apparently, Amoussou's cup strap broke. Can't say I've ever seen this before. Referee just heard on camera, "Please go in the back and see if someone has a cup strap he can borrow." Amazing. Slight delay in the action. They're now using athletic tape to wrap Amoussou's cup back onto his groin. You can't make this kind of stuff up. If you could, I wouldn't. I promise. Finally back on it. Amoussou comes forward like an animal raining kicks and knees! Amoussou clinches up and throws him to the ground, following shortly behind. Amoussou working inside the full guard of Rickels. Rickels sweeps, but Amoussou reverses immediately. Amoussou with the hammerfist. Referee stands them up for a lack of action. Amoussou lands a big right hand and then takes him down. Amoussou lets him back up. Big knee by Rickels. Big combo by Amoussou and then a huge judo throw. Amoussou on top. This fight has been crazy action since we came back! Tough to keep track of! Amoussou steps over and is in side control. Over two minutes to go. Amoussou landing short punches from this position. Amoussou stands briefly to land a few standing shots and then jumps back into the guard. Amoussou complains of eye poke, but referee Jason Herzon claims to not have seen it, advises him to continue. Amoussou still on top inside the full guard of Rickels. Just over a minute to go. Rickels with a very high guard and good wrist control. Elbows by Amoussou. Hammerfists from Amoussou. Amoussou is raining some serious ground and pound. Ten seconds left. Amoussou drops to a heel hook but not enough time. 10-9 Amoussou.
Round two: Big head kick attempt by Rickels is blocked. Body kick attempt by Rickels is caught but Amoussou lets it go. Amoussou shoots for the takedown, clinches, and uses a judo throw to get Rickels down. Amoussou on top inside the full guard again. Rickels looking active from the bottom, routinely throwing up a leg or two for a potential armbar or rubber guard attempt, but Amoussou doing a very good job of holding him down and make use of good, short strikes. Jason Herzog stands them up after a minute or so of what he deems to be not enough action. Good kick by Amoussou. Rickels answers with a nice left hand. Amoussou rushes in and lands a good flying knee then clinches up against the cage. Two minutes left. Amoussou with some good knees to the body. Amoussou pushes off and they're back to center. Good uppercut by Amoussou. Amoussou with a good body kick. Rickels with a nice leg kick then a right hand to the head. They're in the middle of furiously exchanging now. Rickels appeared to be getting the better of it and so Amoussou wasted no time in putting him back on the canvas. Rickels working the full guard. One minute left. Amoussou working the ground and pound while Rickels tries to sit up and explode out of this position. Amoussou keeping him down so far. Rickels throws up an armbar attempt. Amoussou slams him several times to try and defend. Rickels finally has to let go as the round expires. 10-9 Amoussou.
Round three: Amoussou comes out looking a little gassed. Rickels throws an inside leg kick that lands low. Amoussou will get time to recover. Back to action. Amoussou comes forward aggressively with a good combo. Front kick by Amoussou. Rickels rushes in and eats a right hand to the face. Rickels is down momentarily, but he gets back up. As Amoussou rushes in to the semi-grounded Rickels, Rickels is able to reverse him and end up on top for the first time in this fight. We've got a little over three minutes left and Amoussou's face is swollen and his resolve looks to be fading. Rickels is making use of some ground and pound and Amoussou really is not doing much to either threaten from the bottom or get back up. Herzog threatens to stand them up, which would be hugely unfair to Rickels and a really poor stand up. Amoussou lands a couple of good strikes from the bottom, but Rickels quickly answers with a couple of double hammerfists and slaps to the sides of the head, Sakuraba style. Amoussou throwing short punches from the bottom and landing a few, but Rickels is doing the majority of the damage from top. Rickels stands and lands a few kicks to the quads, then dives back into the guard. Amoussou briefly threatens with a leglock but lets it go. Rickels on top, with under a minute to go. Amoussou's left eye really looks bad, as it appears to be entirely swollen shut and bleeding. Rickels going off on the ribs of Amoussou with punches. Round ends with Rickels throwing everything he can at Amoussou from the top. 10-9 Rickels.

115 lbs.: Megumi Fujii vs. Jessica Aguilar
Round one: Fujii with a good jab. Aguilar patient thus far, waiting for an opening. Front kick by Fujii. Inside leg kick by Fujii answered by a left hook from Aguilar. Fujii shoots for a double leg and gets it. Fujii trying to keep her down while Aguilar looks to push off the head, use the fence and wall walk. And she's up as Fujii unable to keep her down. We're about two minutes into this opening round. The fighters are tied up against the cage involved in some positioning and dirty boxing. Fujii tries a judo throw, Aguilar defends, escapes and they're back to the center. Not a ton of fireworks so far as both fighters are looking a bit cautious. Head kick attempt by Fujii misses. Front kick by Fujii is caught and Aguilar answer with a straight right hand. Fujii shoots in for a takedown but it is defended well. Good jab by Fujii. Aguilar lands a good right cross. Head kick by Fujii caught again and she hits the mat. Aguilar pounces and tries to grab a choke. Fujii gets out but Aguilar has top position now. Fujii throws up an armbar attempt. Aguilar defending with 38 seconds to go. Aguilar reverses. Now SHE is threatening with an armbar of her own! Fujii defends but eats a hammerfist. Aguilar decides to stand up as the bell sounds. Close, close round. 10-9 Aguilar.
Round two: Front kick to the head by Fujii, blocked by Aguilar. Fujii comes forward using a high kick like a jab, then actually does jab to back up Aguilar. Aguilar throws a good combo that looks to stagger Fujii for a moment. Good right hand by Aguilar who catches Fujii on the way in. Aguilar with a high kick that is blocked. Good right hand by Aguilar who looks like she's really starting to get loose. Good lead left hand by Fujii. Good combo by Fujii. Good right cross by Fujii and then a spinning back kick that misses. Two minutes left. Fujii steps in and eats a couple of punches. Front kick to the midsection by Fujii. Fujii coming forward, throwing to throw with higher regularity. Great 1-2 combo by Aguilar. Fujii's head really snapped back with the last straight right hand. Head kick by Fujii, blocked again. Fujii throws a couple lazy front kicks that are both easily avoided. 10-9 Aguilar.
Round three: Inside leg kick by Fujii. Good combo by Fujii. Good right hand to the body by Fujii. Fujii looking much more aggressive this round, seeming to know (or at least believe) she's behind. Decent amount of exchanges thus far in the round, but no big shots landed. Good inside leg kick by Aguilar. Fujii shoots, but is met with a sprawl. Aguilar defends well, but in the scrum, Fujii is able to finally get her down. Fujii working inside the half guard of Aguilar. Fujii with the hammerfists. A couple of huge right hands from the top by Fujii. Two minutes to go. Aguilar really needs to get out of this position as this is Fujii's world. Aguilar throws up an armbar attempt but it's a weird angle with her against the fence. Fujii gets free of it and is still on top. Just over a minute to go in the round and in the fight. Fujii stacking and raining some ground and pound. None of the shots threaten to finish but she's scoring for sure. Fujii still in the half guard with heavy hips and using quick short punches to try and do damage. Round ends with Fujii on top. 10-9 Fujii.
