UFC on FUEL TV 3: "Korean Zombie vs. Poirier" from the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 24 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
In a shocker, Tom Lawlor was awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors for unloading some heavy leather on Jason MacDonald in the opening bout of the main card on FUEL TV. Of the 12 bouts that took place this evening, only one of them ended by way of knockout.
Way to make Dana White's job easy, Lawlor.
"Submission of the Night" was also easy pickings, as main event competitor Chan Sung Jung submitted the tough-as-nails Dustin Poirier in the fourth round with a slick D'Arce choke that may very well have earned "The Korean Zombie" a title shot against Jose Aldo.
Jung double dipped tonight, as he was also awarded "Fight of the Night" honors alongside Poirier for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former choke out the latter to a booming reaction from fans who had been chanting "U.S.A." just moments prior. It's a tough loss for "The Diamond," but that extra coin lining his pockets should provide him with some measure of comfort.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FUEL TV 3:
Knockout of the Night -- Tom Lawlor
Submission of the Night -- Chan Sung Jung
Fight of the Night -- Chan Sung Jung vs. Dustin Poirier
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
