So I have been using MMAMania and various MMA websites as useful tools in my favourite hobby, MMA. I like to actively participate in my hobbies and that primarily includes basic analysis and betting on who is going to get KO'd SUB'd and go the distance. Below is a rudimentary style formula that I use some times in higher profile fights and or matchups that, on paper are really difficult to distinguish.

I use this sometimes on MMAPlayground and my handle is rawr, and I've provided below an example (old one) to provide insight on what I thought on paper was a really interesting matchup and couldn't figure out how to pick a potential winner.

Variables:

A) Who (popularity) +/-

B) Record +

C) Age +\-

D) Experience +

E) Injuries -

F) Ring Rust -

G) Weighin/weight +\-

H) Large betting spread +

I) Wrestlers base ++

J) Gut feeling +\-

(+\-) Being positive or negative.

Other Variables can include:

K) Overseas fighters -

L) Pro Picks ++ (mmamania.com etc.)

M) Recent Level Of Competition +/-

N) UFC Undisputed (videogame) Simulator out of 25 times +/-

So, below is done in a basic +/- form. From that, we can deduce who has the advantage and tally it up at the bottom.

EXAMPLE:

Brock Lesnar vs. Alistair Overeem (UFC 141)

A) Who (popularity) +/-

= +Brock/-Overeem

B) Record +

= +Overeem/-Brock

C) Age +\-

= +Overeem/-Brock

D) Experience +

= +Overeem/-Brock

E) Injuries -

= +Overeem/-Brock(diverticulitis)

F) Ring Rust -

= +Overeem/-Brock

G) Weighin/weight +\-

= Believe it or not, equal.

H) Large betting spread +

= Bookies have it equal

I) Wrestlers base ++

= ++Brock/-Overeem

J) Gut feeling +\-

= +Overeem/-Lesnar

Overeems +4 points to Brock's -3 makes it a 7-1 odd that Overeem has the tools to win. And I would place a bet on Overeem for that reasoning.

(+\-) Being positive or negative.
