Alexis Vila has been let go after his last performance in Bellator.
Alexis greatest moment in Bellator came in his first fight under Bellator vs Former Bellator FW Champion Joe Warren.
Unfortunately for Vila his next fight was a controversial split decision victory over Marcos Galvao, and two consecutive decision loses to current Bellator FW Champion Eduardo Dantas and Luis Nogueira. It seems in those loses Vila became over confident in his striking game after his highlight reel KO over Warren, and ignored his bread and butter which is wrestling. Alexis Vila was a member of the Cuban Olympic Team where he earned 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympic games.
Since his release Vila is planning to go back down to the Flyweight division, and he is currently in talks with the UFC. Vila has stated that he has learned from his past fights mistakes, and plans to utilized his wrestling more in upcoming fights.
Currently the UFC Flyweight roster consist of 11 fighters
Benavidez, Johnson, Cariaso, McCall, Dodson, Uyenoyama, Gaudinot, Ferguson, Urushitani, Elliott, and Lineker
