It's been a long long wait, too long in fact. Six long weeks waiting for a UFC event to be back on our screens. Remember when this type of a wait was the norm, how did we survive? Well, the wait is over and Sweden have just kick-started an epic marathon of UFC events which may just put all those WWE/Brock posts on the back-burner for a while!!

A bit of an exodus from the States for UFC events as of late, where the quest for global mma dominance continued in Sweden tonight. This event sold out in 3 hours and had a host of up and coming talent with Sweden's own Alexander Gustafsson headlining opposite the returning Thiago Silva. But we already know all this shit, so lets get down to business!!

First off, a brief rundown of tonight's results:

Main Event:

205 lbs.: Alexander Gustafsson def. Thiago Silva via unanimous decision

Main Card (FUEL TV):

185 lbs.: Brian Stann def. Alessio Sakara via knockout at 2:26 of round one
170 lbs.: Siyar Bahadurzada def. Paulo Thiago via knockout at 0:42 of round one
145 lbs.: Dennis Siver def. Diego Nunes via unanimous decision
170 lbs.: John Maguire def. DaMarques Johnson via submission (armbar) at 4:40 of round two
135 lbs.: Brad Pickett def. Damacio Page via submission (rear naked choke) at 4:05 of round two

Preliminary Card (Facebook):

170 lbs.: James Head def. Papy Abedi via submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:33 of round one
205 lbs.: Cyrille Diabate def. Tom DeBlass via majority decision
185 lbs.: Francis Carmont def. Magnus Cedenblad via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:42 of round two
155 lbs.: Reza Madadi def. Yoislandy Izquierdo via submission (guillotine) at 1:28 of round two
170 lbs.: Simeon Thoresen def. Besam Yousef via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:36 of round two
145 lbs.: Jason Young def. Eric Wisely via unanimous decision

  • I hope you like the ground game, cos we saw 50% of tonight's results via submission.
  • We just saw TWO English fighters Finish their fights. Also Bonus winners too!
  • Anyone seeking out some Gypsy Jiu Jitsu. Anyone??
  • Siyar who? Well now we know. Can you say, KTFO?
  • Much respect to Brian Stann. Class act tonight, many others would have kept on punching.
  • Just saw another hype-train derailed. Papy Abedi who??
  • Seriously, no controversy? How boring!
  • The future is bright, the future is Swedish. Dominating performance against a legit, hungry albeit ring rusty opponent.

So, has Grapplefan cemented his place as the winner of this season with one event to go?

Has McRad taken advantage of a slip up and forced this into a final showdown?

Who has takin 3rd spot?

Let's just find out the fuckin scores!

The winner of the penultimate event of the season is...

Me! WTF. Bons_210309 (Tap or snap Bons) scored 81 points with 9 picks correct. 5 of those picks were perfect scores. Most impressively of all was I got ZERO points on the hot-bout. Well done Bons, I must say, an amazing job and congrats on your very 1st event win.

Runner up spot goes to...

IrishKev who scored 71 points with 8 picks correct. How important is the Hot-bout someone asked me last night. Well, the answer is, Very Important. As proved here by my fellow countryman IrishKev, who scored a perfect 22 to secure 2nd place. Outchya biyo!!

And closing out the top 3 is...

MrGrappleFan who scored 61 points with 7 picks correct. 3 of those were perfect picks. Quite impressively I must mention, our league leader secured 3rd place without scoring any points in the hot-bout. Well done, consistently scoring well and deservedly on top of the league.

Paddy Podium!

Well, a great night for European mma with 2 paddy's on top of this event! Also, in securing 3rd spot, I think know its safe to say, MrGrappleFan, who also happens to have Irish blood in him, has taken this league down. Congratulations. As for 2nd and 3rd however.....

So, who was as useful as a chocolate kettle? That award goes to a person who was looking for the scores and wondering how long playground takes to update the scores. Couldn't wait to find out he came last was:

PotOfGold with 31 points.

He shares the accolade of being last with PedroPark.
